You are what you tell yourself you are. I first became aware of this concept in sales. A profession I had a really tough time with early on in my career. I had a ton of self doubt. I recently read some books by Jed Blount. He shares the concept of repeating positive thoughts over and over again prior to making sales calls. It’s made a huge difference in my ability to have effective sales conversations with strangers.
I’ve long thought that I somehow conditioned myself to be anxious/fearful and it wasn’t just a “generalized anxiety” diagnosis from a doctor - but something I just repeatedly told myself I couldn’t do or should be afraid of.
I started a few months ago just repeating the belief “I can do __” while going about my day, and it’s slowly but surely becoming more automatic! I’m finding it easier to do things that once would make me panic.
If I conditioned myself to be this way it only stands to reason I can condition myself out of it!
Thank you for this informative piece, I never knew the neuroscience behind this!
You are the story, the narrative you tell yourself. I first read about it in a book called Psycho-Cybernetics. This is why self help never works unless you understand this principle. Love the way you have encompasses it here!

100%. This is a golden example for what this post is about.
It's amazing how our brains were created with the ability to be "rewired". We simply have to consistently make a conscious effort to do so
It’s amazing indeed. That’s why reality is also shaped by your thoughts.
